Calvary Kids Activity October 25

Remember last week, we learned the acronym T.H.I.N.K.?

T – Is it True?
H – Is it Helpful?
I – Is it Inspiring?
N – Is it Necessary?
K – Is it Kind?

We discussed “T” and the importance of speaking truth and going to the source. This week, let’s focus not the “H”. Is it helpful?

Words have power. They can tear us down and build us up. They can restore and destroy relationships. What we say matters. Some of us are fast talkers, and words leave our mouths before we can even think about what was said. Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever said something you wished you hadn’t?

When we physically get hurt, we can do things to make ourselves feel better. Do you remember when you were in preschool and a band-aid always made you feel better? Don’t you wish you could put a band-aid on a hurt you caused someone else, and make everything better?

When we think before we speak, we are giving ourselves opportunities to save ourselves from regret and our loved ones from hurt. After you’ve decided the thing you want to say is true, then ask yourself these questions:

  • Are my words helpful?
  • Will my words hurt?
  • Will my words heal?

He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20

If the Bible says it, we know it’s true! Jesus’ words are filled with grace, mercy and forgiveness. We know the same power lives within us. So, let’s pray for our words to minister that same kind of experience to others.

To help you remember to think before you speak and to choose helpful, healing words, we encourage you to SHOW US YOUR BAND-AID! Don’t forget to post a picture on social media with #calvaryphxwatchparty!
