CalvaryKids (of all ages), show us your SWORD!
A few weeks ago, you may have participated as we created a shield of faith to remind us that our trust in God protects us from the attacks of the enemy. Today, we learn that the weapon we have to fight the devil is the sword of the spirit, meaning the Word of God.
Have you ever thought of your Bible as a sword?
And take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God…
Ephesians 6:17
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword…
Hebrews 4:12
After being baptized, Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days and nights in the Judaean Desert. With each new temptation, Jesus replied with ‘It is written’ and then quoted a scripture that proved the temptation wasn’t aligned with God’s promises. Jesus literally fought the devil with The Word of God! And you can, too!
To remind yourself of the importance of knowing, studying and memorizing God’s Word, create your own ‘sword of the Spirit’. You can use cardboard or posterboard and create a larger one, or maybe you would prefer a smaller one out of paper to use as a bookmark. Whatever you choose, remember to SHOW US YOUR SWORD!
